Tucked away in its own private valley near the ancient village of La Tour d’Aigues lies 30 hectares of sun-drenched vineyards of our Saint Médard wine. In its beautiful setting within a natural schist crater, the Château Saint Médard vineyard enjoys a very special microclimate. Its winters are mild and the summers are hot and dry, sometimes scorching, which means that the vines can soak up all the strength of the Provençal sun, with 3,000 hours of sunshine a year.

Our wines are also complimented by the Mistral, a dry, strong wind, which plays a major role as it sweeps across the plantations, protecting the vines from damp-related diseases. The vines are grown on a limestone and clay plain and schist slopes. The soil has little humus and is permeable, shallow, stony and well-drained, bringing together the ideal conditions for the vines to flourish whilst the stony nature of the land produces a special minirality which gives our Provence wine a specific character that differentiates it from all of the other wines in France, our wines are made in the classic Provence style, elegant, dry, the perfect combination of freshness and full rounded flavour.

Saint Médard Rosé wine 2017 (PRE-ORDER)

Each bottle of our Rosé is expertly blended from two different varietals (Grenache, Syrah) to form a harmonious and complex, but also light and refreshing wine.

THE TERROIR

  • Situated amid rolling limestone hills, the vineyard enjoys ample exposure to the sun. The soil is composed of 40-50% rock, so the land gets ideal drainage. Despite the presence of some extremely fertile clay deposits, yields are kept low.

THE TASTE

  • A Rosé in the classic Provençal style, with a bouquet of Mediterranean spices, offset by citrus and honey notes. A round, rich sensation, but with good acidity.
  • Grape varietals - 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah
  • Vinification: The grape clusters are harvested in the morning, with direct pressing in a controlled environment.

DRINKING

  • This is truly a wine for all occasions, from aperitif to dessert.  We like it with fish such as salmon or papillote, or with roasted fowl and vegetables.  Cheese is also a great partner.
  • Drink around 12 ° C
  • Alcohol 13 % Vol.
